SEAFOOD AND WINE FOR SUMMER

The summer has finally arrived! And to celebrate, we have three 'Seafood and Wine' offers.

Take your pick from any of the following, and enjoy a 125ml glass of wonderful Picpoul from Languedoc included in the price. To tempt your taste buds, we have:

• Moules Mariniere or à la Crème, served with skinny fries - featuring excellent Scottish mussels and a snip at £13.95.

• Our delicious Fish Smorgasbord, at just £14.95, which includes Poached Salmon, Hot Smoked Trout, Herring Rollmop, Crayfish Tails, Marinated Anchovies and Smoked Mackerel.

• Fresh Brixham Dressed Crab Salad for only £14.95 - and that's for fresh crab that's delivered to us from Brixham every day.

Our 'Seafood and Wine' offer is available every day except Sundays, from 1st July until 1st August, both lunch times and evenings.

Seafood and chilled wine - it's always a great combination.

LEAVING ...

It is now confirmed that our last day at the Maltsters will be Sunday 6th September. Many of our customers have already booked for Sunday lunch - the "last supper" - so phone quickly if you want to join us on our last (and I'm sure tearful) day.

FRENCH NIGHT

The 22nd and 23rd of May saw our first - and last - double headed themed evening. Both nights weere completely booked. Merci beaucoup to all that came and, wow, did you eat some cheese over those two nights!

VE NIGHT

With the staff and many of our guests dressed in 1940's attire, a visit from Sir Winston Churchill, the lighting of the millenium beacon and a fabulous firework display, all accompanied by the music of Rule Brittania and Land of Hope and Glory - we had a superb celebration of the 70th anniversary of VE Day. Our VE menu went down a treat, and much beer and wine was drunk - unfortunately not at 1940's prices!

DON'T MISS OUT IN MAY

You might think it's barely April, but already May is looming - and we've two really good events coming up.

Firstly, the 8th May sees us marking the 70th Anniversary of VE Day. We have to mark that properly, so as well as a tastily appropriate meal the staff will be appropriately attired in 1940s costumes, there will be a quiz for your entertainment and there may even be a sing-song ... as you may already know, the landlord does like the sound of his own voice!

While you're booking that, you could grab a table at our ever-popular French Night. The next one will be on the 22nd May and is sure to be full soon! We haven't planned the menu yet, but we promise you that it will be scrumptious - and French-themed!

FESTIVE FUN AND CELEBRATIONS

The 2014 Festive Season was more than just a celebration of Christmas.

First off, on Christmas Eve we raised £250 for the Air Ambulance with our Christmas Raffle. A huge thanks to all of you - our customers - for your tremendous support, and a special thanks to Helen, who worked exceptionally hard to make it all happen.

Also on Christmas Eve we celebrated with long-standing friends and customers Fred and Sybil on the occasion of their 60th Wedding Anniversary. As well as a congratulatory letter from the Queen, the day was marked with a glass of champagne over a meal, and a magnificent cake shared with everyone in the pub.

Rounding off 2014, revellers at our the New Year's Eve dinner and dance were treated to Chef's fabulous fillet steak and ox cheek, and then partied into the early hours.

The fun only stopped at 3am because we had to tidy up and prepare for the 130 diners booked in for New Year's Day! A superb - if tiring - 24 hours.

A great way to start 2015!
